the sitar and tablas, the aroma of South Asian cuisine and the color and vitality of Indian music and
dance. Sensational India! highlights internationally acclaimed and emerging artists, writers and political
thinkers.

Sitar Virtuoso Concert with Kartik Seshadri (EIMH)

Kartik Seshadri is a world-renowned force as a composer, educator and performer in the field of
Indian classical music. The sitar prodigy blossomed into an "amazingly accomplished" musical
powerhouse, praised the Washington Post.

Sa Dance Company performs its five-part signature piece, combining traditional Indian, folk,
classical, and Bollywood-inspired dance forms with ballet, jazz and contemporary styles.
Parker lecture with author and social commentator Bharati Muhkerjee (Morse)

Bharati Mukherjee, a distinguished and prolific author and social commentator, has established
herself as a powerful constituent of the American literary scene Mukherjee considers herself a
writer of the Indian diaspora who cherishes the "melting pot" of America. Winner of the National
Book Critics Circle Award for Fiction and recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts grant.

Sensational Bollywood Saturday 8:30pm-12:00am
DJ Rekha, along with one of New York’s hottest Indian dance groups, Sa Dance Company, transforms the museum’s soaring Atrium into a nightclub with the latest in Indian dance fusion. Bollywood movies, lounge areas and a cash bar set the stage so you can join the party on the dance floor. ($5 for PEM members, $10 for non-members)

Health Symposium: Doctor-Patient Relationships in the South Asian Community in Boston | March 26, 2011
The Desai Family Foundation (DFF), IMANE, CHNA and SAHELI are pleased to announce a health
symposium. The Keynote speaker will address issues of managing diabetes, nutrition and diet. Saheli
will share results of its 2011 community survey, showcase the role of health advocates, and share a new
resource book on domestic violence. We look forward to your participation in lively discussions.
The morning symposium will be led by experts in diabetes. Topics include management of diabetes,
doctor-patient relationships, and new findings about nutrition, health and eating smart. Group discussions
will be fun and informative, and bring medical research into the South Asian kitchen. Practical advice that
you can use will be shared. If you, or someone you know, has diabetes or a family history of diabetes, we
encourage you to attend. Learn improved methods to manage this life-threatening disease.

Community Impact at Columbia University: 30th Anniversary Gala Benefit Auction

Community Impact is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located at Columbia University. Community
Impact (CI) serves disadvantaged people in the Harlem, Washington Heights, and Morningside Heights
communities.
In 1992: community Impact raised $3,000 at that First Annual Benefit Auction, held at the home of
Board chair Barbra Ternes! Just 11 year later the event grosses a staggering $80,000! Most recently
the Benefit Auction attracted over $360,000, blossoming into an important event through which CI
supporters can celebrate and honor the vision set forth 30 years ago!
In 2002: Community Impact's Jobs and Education Empowerment Project, West Harlem Group
Assistance, and the School of Engineering and Applied Science collaborate to establish two technology
centers as part of the Urban Neighborhood Empowerment Project for CI adult students. True to its
legacy of fostering leadership through partnership, CI brings together members from different areas of
the community to create a lasting impact.
The Desai Family Foundation is looking forward to participating in this event, and encourage all those
interested to get involved!
