History
The Sri Yoganand Saraswati Education and Medical Trust (the trust) is a non-profit organization committed to improving and extending educational and medical services to over 10,000 people living in Talangpur and surrounding areas. Since its formation in 1996, it has already had a substantial salutary impact on the community. Among its accomplishments, the Trust has organized health camps, provided monetary assistance for those requiring hospitalization and contributed to educational services for the needy in the community. The Trust has benfited over 4,000 people through such activities as conducting health and education programs as well as providing funding for surgery, clinical services, medication, tuition, books and school uniforms.
Encouraged by its past successes, the Trust is embarking on an ambitious plan to extend its services to other important areas to improve social and economical sustainability for the community through education, training, and knowledge enrichment.
The Trust established a community development center in 2005 which was renamed in 2006 to Hansa Community Development Center (the Center). The Hansa Community Development Center will extend its services to other important disciplines. These services will include those programs and events that result in the improvement of life development skills, health and hygiene habits, general career development, quality and extent of schooling and several areas of civic services.
Planned Activities of the Center
Motivated by the strong need to improve the general status of community sustainability and overall well being, the Trust has embarked on an ambitious campaign to establish a Community Development Center. The Center will become a hub of activities and extended services in the areas of health and hygiene awareness, education and economic development. The objective is to bring the region into the 21st century for social and economic sustainability through enhanced education, training and knowledge enrichment.
The plan envisions a total of four service centers as listed below as well as a self standing library to fulfill these activities.
Computer and Technology Center: The Center has, as one major goal, the introduction of modern technology to everyone. Modern technology and computers provide key access to knowledge and information for the betterment of health, education and economic development.
Specifically, the Computer and Technology Center will provide:
Economic Sustainability Center: The Center is deeply committed to the community’s economic development and sustainability and will provide career development and assistance, global and national trade information and will conduct educational and skill building programs. This will be achieved through developing strong programs around building a strong sense of economic self worth and independence.
The Economic Sustainability Center activities will include:
- Providing services to increase economic independence among women.
- Conducting vocational training for growing job market in surrounding industrial area(s).
- Providing technology and computer literacy education to enable career and knowledge growth.
- Creating awareness regarding job and placement services.
The short term activities will include providing:
- English as a second language classes.
- Computer and internet training classes.
- Vocational training in plumbing, welding and hospitality services.
- Sewing and embroidery classes.

Health and Education Center: The Center is deeply committed to improve education and increase funding for health and hygiene education, awareness and care. This will be achieved through health workshops, seminars and camps to educate and inform community on issues of physical health and hygiene and referring the extremely indigent population to appropriate professional services.
The specific services of the Health and Education Center will include:
- Making health and hygiene information available through the library and the Computer and Technology Center.
- Conducting periodic workshops and seminars.
- Continuing annual health camps for free check ups and health assessments including diagnosis and referral to tertiary and more complicated care.
- Conducting hygiene and cleanliness camps bi-annually.
- Providing funding for surgical interventions, clinical services, and medications.
- Convening computer and technological training classes in concert with the Computer and Technology and Economic Sustainability Centers.
- Providing funding for education enhancement and further training.
- Providing tools to understand higher education options to increase access and training.
- Adult and children seminars on specific topics.

Audio-Visual Center: This center will provide audio-visual stimulus and access to knowledge and entertainment. The center will teach, utilizing audio-visual technology, many aspects of life including health, politics and civic responsibility, economic knowledge of trade and understanding of news that expose community members to the outside world and empower them with knowledge, skills and information.
The inventory of this Audio-Visual Center will include:
- Documentaries.
- Movies with message.
- Children’s educational programs.
- Market prices and trade news for products and services produced by community.
- Programs for higher education exams.
- General educational and entertainment programs.

Get Involved
The Center is well aware that undertaking this very significant program and enhanced charter will require the support of many warm hearted individuals like yourself for financial assistance, time and in-kind contributions to fulfill its mission. The currently available options to participate and support the Center include contributions for the following:
- Eight desk top computers and two laser printers.
- Internet set up and access services.
- Audio-visual system with television.
- Sewing machines.
- Beauty Parlor instruments.
- Books, subscriptions to magazines and newspapers.
- Air conditioners, fans, water coolers.
- Furniture for library, classrooms and seminars.
- Volunteer teachers for workshops, seminars and classes.
- Volunteers for conducting career workshops.
- Volunteers for medical camps.
And/or any other item or items you may wish to contribute consistent with the goals of the Center.
