Sensational India! is an annual celebration of Indian visual and performing art every Spring at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. The program provides an opportunity to showcase India’s artistic and cultural heritage through a multi-faceted program that includes an exhibition of Indian art, dance, music, lectures, films, family events, lectures or symposia, social events, and related activities. The inaugral celebration drew more than 2,500 attendees of all ages. The museum will actively seek annual and/or ongoing support for the Indo-centric program from other funding sources. The Desai Family Foundation’s objective is to create a community database of and for Indian Americans willing to participate in the process of India’s social and community development as well as that of enriching the Indian American experience.
The Information Resource Center will reside on the Desai Family Foundation website and is currently in the planning stages. Examples of a couple of specific projects include Gujarati Proverbs and Information of Indian Rituals.
